Blackberry White Chocolate Scones
These Blackberry White Chocolate Scones are a delicious combination of sweet white chocolate and fresh blackberries in a buttery, flaky dough. Brushed with cream and baked to golden perfection, they’re the ultimate indulgent treat, especially with a drizzle of glaze.

These scones are packed with flavor. The fresh blackberries provide a bright, tart fruitiness that pairs well with the sweetness of the scones. The sweetness comes from the sugar and the white chocolate chips. The white chocolate chips add a creamy, mellow sweetness. Another key aspect of my scones is grated butter. Not only does it add a buttery richness, but grating the butter helps you get flaky, tender scones without overworking the dough. Overall, these Blackberry White Chocolate Scones are the perfect morning pick me up. Drizzle them with glaze for an added sweetness.
FAQs
Can I substitute the blackberries with other fruit?
Yes! These scones are versatile. Try blueberries, raspberries, or chopped strawberries.
Can I mix the dough with a food processor?
Absolutely! A food processor can make the process quicker. Pulse the dry ingredients and butter until crumbly, then add the wet ingredients and pulse just until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overmix, or the scones can turn out dense.
Can I make the scones ahead of time?
Yes! You can assemble the scones up to the baking stage and refrigerate them for a few hours before baking. This can even help improve their texture. You can also freeze them before baking for an easy make-ahead option (up to 2-3 months).
How do I store the scones?
Store baked scones in an airtight container at room temperature for 2–3 days. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to a week, then bring them to room temperature or warm slightly in the oven before serving.
Can I freeze the scones?
Yes! Both baked and unbaked scones freeze well. For unbaked, flash-freeze them on a tray first (to prevent sticking), then transfer to a freezer bag for up to 2–3 months. Bake from frozen, adding a couple extra minutes to the baking time. Baked scones can also be frozen and reheated in the oven for a freshly baked taste.
How do I reheat Blackberry White Chocolate Scones?
Preheat your oven to 325F-350F and bake for 8-10 minutes. If scones are frozen, bake for 12-15 minutes or until warmed through.
Can I use something other than buttermilk?
Yes! You can substitute regular milk with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar per ¾ cup of milk, letting it sit 5 minutes to mimic buttermilk’s tang. You can also substitute regular milk 1:1, just note the scones may turn out less tangy and may be a bit denser.
