FAQs
Where do I get real maple syrup?
You can get real maple syrup along the road in most New England states. If you aren’t local, I recommend looking for some at a farmer’s market or finding the highest quality you can at your local grocery store. Just remember, organic does not mean real in maple syrup’s case. Make sure the label says 100% Pure Maple Syrup.
Can I use a reduced fat milk?
Sure, you can use reduced fat milk, but it will slightly affect the creaminess and flavor of the Steamer. Whole milk is crucial for giving that classic, rich texture and flavor profile.
What if the steamer tastes too sweet?
If it tastes too sweet, reduce the maple syrup by 1/2 a teaspoon. If you find you want the Steamer to be sweeter, start by adding 1/4-1/2 tsp of maple syrup.
What do I serve a New England Steamer with?
New England Steamers go well with baked goods, including my Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies, Scones, and Cinnamon Roll Braided Bread.

[…] This cake has a wonderfully rich, spiced flavor with the warmth of cinnamon, ginger, and molasses from the gingerbread layer, perfectly complemented by the creamy, slightly sweet eggnog batter. The texture is incredibly moist and tender, thanks to the addition of mayonnaise, with each bite offering a soft, melt-in-your-mouth crumb. It pairs perfect with my New England Steamer. […]
