Pear Seared Oatmeal

The oats are simmered with vanilla, cinnamon, and a touch of brown sugar, then topped with seared pears cooked in butter and brown sugar for a sweet, warming finish.

Ingredients

For the oatmeal:

  • ½ cup quick oats
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp milk to top

For the seared pears:

  • 1 red pear sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, combine oats, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, & sprinkle of brown sugar. Set heat to medium and allow it to come to a simmer, stirring frequently. Turn off heat and let sit to thicken.
  • In a separate pot over medium heat, add butter and melt until frothy, then add brown sugar and cinnamon, stir to combine. Add sliced pears and let cook for 2-4 mins each side. Remove and add to oatmeal, add splash of milk and drizzle of maple syrup!

Notes

Any pear variety would work for this recipe! You could also use your favorite fruit like bananas, apples, strawberries, etc.
